What is birria?
Birria is a traditional Mexican dish that originated in central Mexico. It is made with shredded beef or lamb. The meat is slow cooked in a broth with spices and usually served in a tortilla. The tortillas are dipped in The broth before grilling and then it is served on the side for dipping of tacos.
There are many different versions and ways to serve birria. Ours is made with halal lamb wrapped in banana leaves that we cook for 8 hours.
